Replacement intervals for different filter media in ultrapure water systems

An ultrapure water system filters out suspended solids, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants from water. It employs advanced filtration technology, typically with a five-stage process: the first stage is a PP cotton filter cartridge; the second and third stages are activated carbon + activated carbon, or activated carbon + PP cotton; the fourth stage is a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane; and the fifth stage is a high-precision filter cartridge.
1. PE filter cartridge:
Filter pore sizes vary, typically around 0.1 μm. Function: Blocks visible impurities such as bloodworms, sediment, rust, and colloids, with a service life of 1 to 2 months.
2. PP melt-blown filter cartridge:
Filter pore sizes vary, typically around 5 μm. Function: Blocks impurities larger than 5 μm in water, such as colloids, rust, and microorganisms, with a service life of 3 to 6 months.
3. Ceramic filter cartridge:
Filter pore size: 0.1 μm, slightly larger than ultrafiltration (UF) membrane materials. Function: Removes bacteria, pyrogens, microorganisms, and colloids from water, significantly reducing turbidity, with a service life of 12 to 24 months.

Pore size: 0.01 μm. Function: Removes bacteria, pyrogens, microorganisms, and macromolecular organic compounds from water, with a service life of 12 to 24 months.
5. Activated carbon filter cartridge:
Function: Adsorbs chlorine, abnormal colors, and odors in water. This type of cartridge is further subdivided into different categories, with a service life ranging from 6 to 18 months.
6. Reverse osmosis (RO) membrane:
Pore size: 10-6 μm. Function: Removes small-molecular organics, bacteria, viruses, and minerals from water. Its service life depends on factors such as the pre-treatment filters (PP filter cartridge, activated carbon filter cartridge) and wastewater ratio, and is generally 18 to 36 months. | ||
