Summer tips for your lab water purification system

1. Avoid direct sunlight

Summer temperatures have been increasingly high in recent years, reaching 40°C in some areas during hot weather. Most components in lab ultrapure water systems are made of food-grade materials, which have limited resistance to temperature. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can easily lead to bacterial growth within the tubing. It is important to avoid direct sunlight during installation and use.

2. Ensure an air-conditioned environment

High temperatures can easily cause changes in certain properties of the water. Consumables in ultrapure water systems, such as polishing resin, can experience reduced service life under high-temperature conditions. Additionally, elevated temperatures accelerate the aging of various components within the system, potentially leading to malfunctions and preventing normal operation.

3. Turn off the inlet ball valve and power supply

When the system is connected to the inlet ball valve and power supply, it begins operation. Although water inflow stops after the storage tank is full, the water circulation and electrical components within the system remain active. Keeping the system in this state for extended periods can significantly impact its long-term service life. When the system is not in use, we recommend turning off both the inlet valve and the main power. This helps extend the system's service life and ensures more reliable performance during future operation.

4. Maintenance during extended non-use

During summer, elevated temperatures and high humidity in many regions create ideal conditions for microbial growth. To protect the internal tubing of the water purification system, we recommend initiating a system startup and performing a 3-5 minute flush and drain cycle every 2-3 days when it is not in use for an extended period. This effectively cleanses the system, inhibits bacterial proliferation, and ensures consistent production of high-quality water.

5. Regular replacement of pre-filtration cartridges

Regular replacement of pre-filtration cartridges in pure water systems effectively removes various particulate impurities from the filtered liquid. These cartridges experience declining filtration efficiency​over time and become susceptible to bacterial growth. Timely replacement of pre-filtration consumables not only improves final water quality but also extends the service life of the purification system.
